Hi, I've been considering to switch from my old PC to this MacBook Air.

My only thought is that these specifications might not suit my needs. To be perfectly clear, those needs will be Discord, Chrome, Microsoft Office and Spotify. Possibly Netflix occasionally.

Do you think that the base model will suit my needs?

Thanks,
Daniel.

The i3 MBA has good reviews using safari and great value at $899. I am not sure about using chrome. That is also my concern in considering buying a 2020 MBA v 2020 base 8th gen MBP. Maybe an i3 MBA owner here can test using chrome?

These threads may also help you.

It’s a sad day when it’s questionable whether an expensive modern computer (cheap by Apple standards is still costly) can run normal consumer tasks.

Edit: Or maybe the issues are either overblown or due to early software compatibility issues?

could be also a bad first batch and changing it later. Because someone never heard fans going 8000rpm, while others state that 8000rpm is doable. Also some has 100C hit with usual work, while others have pretty normal temperatures.
