You would be a major idiot if you used a Pre-Sign Form for a product worth this amount of money . Anybody walking up or driving up could take your phone and you would have no way to get your money back . Think about this before you actually do something retarded !

I live in an apartment with a small doorway between the outside, and my apartment door. Nobody can see it unless they enter my front door.

I agree with rolltide1. If you cannot have a neighbor that you trust sign for it, then go pick it up at the FedEx facility tomorrow (typically after 6pm). Don't risk it. Thieves know it's "iPhone day" tomorrow.

heck didn't somebody on here post that he was going to be following a Fedex truck tomorrow:eek:

I'm debating ways to allow FedEx to leave my phone securely if they come while I'm gone. One thing I might do is provide instructions on how to use my garage door and to leave it inside there. (I can set a temporary use code that is only valid for a short period of time). And then lock my interior door from my garage. (what's the FedEx guy going to steal...my lawnmower?)

Also debating having a locked footlocker for it to be left in, though someone could walk away with the footlocker...but it'd be harder to steal.

Though, I'm still thinking about just rolling the dice and hoping he doesn't get there until after noon. If I miss the delivery I can most likely pick it up at the FedEx place tomorrow night (mine is open until 10PM).

Thank you for that valuable advice. I do understand the risks (and VZW agents on the phone did make sure of that, twice), but I also happen to live in a nice gated community with security guards and video surveillance, where things have never been stolen from the doors of apartments. Given that I have double doors with space for a package in between the two that shelters any small box nicely from potential on-lookers, and that I have to be in NH early on Saturday morning and won't be able to re-arrange delivery, I think I am going to take the risk.

I see you're in C-bus as well. Where's your iPhone? Mine departed Newark, NJ about an hour ago. My FedEx guy is very cool. I see him about 6 times every summer when he delivers my Dave Matthews Band tickets. Haha.

Before you make the delivery driver jump through too many hoops, remember they are on a schedule and are having a very busy day.

The more difficult you make it for them, the less likely they'll play along. Rather than follow a string of detailed instructions, it's much easier to leave a door tag.

True, but a note saying "leave in garage - use keypad at side and type "9999 - enter. Press enter again to close. Code is only good once" isn't that hard to follow and doesn't take hardly any more time than waiting for someone to answer the door, sign for it and go. Not sure whether I'll try this or not, but I can make it so they can only open the door once, which would ensure against someone reading the note, waiting for delivery, then opening the door themselves to get the phone.

Also - if they read it, decide it's too much trouble and leave the door tag, well, that's the same thing that would happen without the instructions.

It's safe where I live. It's not a ghetto.

Geaux Tigers...

Why in the world would they allow you to pick it up BEFORE delivery? If that were the case, then there would be a line around the block at the delivery centers at 8 am, and if you supposedly work, how do you have the time to get it at 8 am and not interfere with work, but not be home for its delivery during the day? If you want to pick it up you can on the day they attempt delivery. It sounds like you're just whining to try and get it earlier. IF you're at work all day, you can wait and pick it up after work. Since the delivery date is the 21, you're lucky they'll even let you pick it up without waiting till the next day (since technically delivery can take place anytime on the 21st.

Just calm down, call tomorrow morning and tell them you want to pick it up after work, and by 6 or 7 it'll probably be ready.

Remember, if you CHOSE to have it shipped (mind you they charged NOTHING to ship it from CHINA to your door 10,000 miles away), that was your choice. You're more than welcome to go stand in line at a store and try your luck, or have done in-store pick up and picked it up any time convenient for you.

So tired of seeing people complain about Apple when it was their own choice to order the way they did.

I don't need to "calm down" and "call tomorrow morning" -- I've had my phone for over a year.

Thanks for the advice, though.
