There's a lot of speculation that the price could be as low as $249 or even $199, but I don't buy it. It reminds me of the speculation prior to the iPhone 4s debut that Apple would also release a low price redesigned iPhone 4 for the prepaid market. Didn't happen. Instead, they kept the old hardware and dropped the price $100.

I think the same will happen here. The iPad mini will essentially recycle the old hardware (same dpi screen, old processor, old graphics) and… be $100 cheaper. $299 16GB.

^exactly what I thought as I voted $299 above.

FNM ftw!

Apple doesn't need to compete on price. Premium money for a premium product. $300 base price. They don't want to cut into their iPod market.

Assuming that it will ADD functionality (removable media) and 3g/4g features above and beyond the Nexus 7....

16gb - $250

32gb - $280

Now... IF it gets an HDMI 'IN' port I'd call for an extra $75 for that feature alone.

If it does get announced, I say $399 16GB. And people will still buy it at that price because of the brand.

Because people are incapable of making evaluative decisions on any other basis?

Adding removable media but still coming out with storage variations?

Looking at it this way, it's obvious where the pricing needs to be. $300-$500 depending on capacity and LTE or wi-fi. Right around the low end of the iPad line and the high end of the iPod line.

People pay premium because of the Apple name. Hell I can still get $410 from Amazon.com for my White 32GB Wifi iPad2. Seriously, that is worth paying a premium price for knowing you lose so little on your return of investment.

8gb - $200

16gb - $250

I highly doubt it. I love the prices you listed but Apple will hurt their own products and profits. If Apple releases a 5th gen iPod touch how much are you willing to pay? Would you still buy a $200 iPod touch or a $200 iPad mini? Or what about a $150 iPod touch vs a $200 iPad mini?
$300 is a better price for Apple. But I'm not sure if Apple can match every feature of the Nexus 7. Even the base iPad 3 does not have quad core or built in GPS. Even the storage situation is not a big deal because you can now add usb storage for your media using a cable for under a buck along with a custom kernel.

U r correct it's going to be in this range but what if Apple released an iProduct in the future between 7 inch iPad mini and 3.5 inch iPod touch, what would they price it? Lol
