That can all change in a day. Remember 9/11?
Of course. But the USA in general is a deeply monotheistic religious country. Islamist terrorists went on a shooting spree in Mumbai two years ago but it hasn't led to any further religious fervour across India. Hindus simply don't see the world through the same clash of religions rhetoric. Of course there have always been some Muslim/Hindu incidents of violence in the sub-Continent, but in general when something like that happens they do the usual and just blame Pakistan (or blame India if the incident is in Pakistan itself), meaning the anger is channelled into nationalism instead.

I suspect it would be similar in China. The anger would find another outlet and religion would stay pretty much in the background.

A shooting spree is one thing. I wonder what the reaction would be if the Taj Mahal were completely destroyed.

War with Pakistan. That they're not constantly fighting is in itself an achievement.

(BTW, not a PRSI thread).

Except cats. I promise that cats don't make it to heaven.

If we aren't all dead from nuclear winter, the end of the oil age or robot uprising. I'm sure things won't be far off where they are now.

Cars still won't run on hydrogen, the tech will still be 'only 10 years away'. They won't fly, but if they can, they won't be for the everyman, probably requiring a pilots licence of sorts.

Cloud computing will probably be the big thing, although computing that we know won't exist at all. Almost everything that can be, will be wireless.

War, 3rd world debt, terrorism and poverty will still exist, no solution will exist to any.

BP will have most probably bought out several electric car battery manufacturers to stay relevant.

Producers of renewable energy will be the new evil, wanting to 'ruin the land' to put up power plants, everybody wants cheaper energy, but no one wants it in their back garden.

Africa will probably start to become a true developed nation, but their debt will still exist.

I have my doubts about the practicality of cloud computing, the whole concept of it sounds nice in the blueprint but there will likely be many hard core users interested in keeping the data and apps in their own machines rather than trust the system.

Maybe in 20 years time there will still be a small minority who oppose them, but by 2110, surely it'll be so well engrained into everyday life there won't be a need for an alternative? Why would you want a 3ghz desktop when you can have a large array server doing all your CPU work.

Related, I think bandwidth won't be an issue, but CPU time will be, with that many people on clouds, I can't imagine they could build enough servers to accommodate everyone.

So you're predicting the unification of the 54 African nations into one country, despite the massive cultural differences between sub-Saharan Africa and the Arab states bordering the Mediterranean? Could happen I suppose, and of course you're right in that if it did it would probably be quite expensive.

This is 100 years time, leaders die, cultural and political motives change, and I'd like to think, for the better, optimism and all :p

Yes I see, but if the cloud goes down, how can I play solitare when the app is in the cloud?
