We hoped, but pod2g said hopefully 7 days which gives him til tuesday! Also coincides with chronics CES comment.
That might make sense at this point. I'm really liking the fact that 5.1 has the 3G toggle...
he also said with some luck we will have it in a week. Followed by the sandbox which then the team and then the CES talk. There is a good change they will get together at CES ANC just have fun. I hoping foe release real soon but realistically I'm betting at least another week. I hope I'm am wrong.
Doubtful. That would likely require finding an entirely new exploit, since Appe is fanatic about closing known exploits at OS updates. This would put the team back to square 1.

He has already advised people to update to 5.0.1.
We could have a situation where he waits for 5.1 to come out, advise people not to update, see if his exploit still works and take it from there. If it does, he tweaks it for 5.1 or whatever. If not, he releases it for 5.0.1.

It looks to be getting a little tricky at this point. 5.1 will be here soon and we don't know if the exploit will be patched or not. I'm sure it will. At that point we start the wait all over again.

Why? Anyone that wants to jailbreak knows not to update past 5.0.1 and most will also save our current shsh blob so we can downgrade should we need to. It makes no difference if Apple updates or not at this point, as long as you are on the current update.
Anytime there is a firmware update we are flooded by people that accidentally upgrade. Or there mom, dad, sister, brother, cleaning lady, dog cat,bird did it.
or it just magically updated.

My fave is the magical update. No joke tho, I made it a point to stay on 5.0. My wife was making a few phone calls on my 4S when she saw the update badge on the settings icon, boom...she hit it. So things like this do happen.

given that parts of it are the same as the other 5.01 jailbreaks, most likely it will be patched in 5.1 no?
Same. I may end up needing more data, so at that point, it's not worth it, and I'll just get the 4GB plan, and 5.1, and I will have no reason to JB.
I have an iphone 4 on 5.0 jailbroken, when i use widgets on the notification bar the drop down option becomes a little laggy, now i got a iphone 4s and was wondering if the A5 processor will be able to have a better performance when it comes to lag issues such as the one i have with my A4 devices....
Yes it should run faster on a faster phone. The jailbreak will really show the 4S edge over the 4.
