ready for the 2002 year of the mac

i said this back in december last year prior to apple starting the hype. i said this is the year of the mac.
predictions
1) DOJ and microsoft will cut a deal.
Microsoft will be forced to pay a 1 billion dollar fine.
Microsoft will buy brand new macs worth 1 billion dollars (for the next 5 years) for underprivalleged school
Microsoft will provide office for mac with same functions (programs) as its windows conterpart.
Microsoft must comit to the mac for the next 5 years
After the five years are up microsoft must meet with the DOJ and prove that its monopolistic ways are over and have been. if not fines and purchases will be continued for another 5 years.
Microsoft must also make its operating system affordable.

2) flat panel imac (we already saw this one but here are my MWNY ideas)
speeds 800, 900, 1 GHZ
full sized ram
bigger hard drive
blue tooth
bto wireless keyboard and mouse
prices drop back to 1299, 1499, 1799

3) G5s
we will see the G5 at MWNY we will finally see ddr, we will see the faster bus probably 266 but maybe 333 or 400 (not likely) speeds of 1.4, 1.5, 1.6 GHZ (while this is still 1.0 gig a way MWSF will provide even more jumps probably 1.6, 1.7, 1.8) where p4 only gets to 3 GHZ we will see standard minimum 256 ram capable of holding 4 gigs. this will also support bluetooth standard wireless keyboard and mouse. wireless promouse optional (two buttoned) at this time we will also see a new case design (same principle of easy acess but closer to the new apple look)

4)ipod price drops
299 10 gig version
399 20 gig version

5) product matrix shift
we will see the low end grow (imac classic)
ibook prices drop 999,1199,1499 respectively

middle of the road
imac G4
Macintosh Pad

high end
Power Mac G5
Tibook 800, 933

6) the Macintosh Pad
this is my dream machine its 8.5 x 11 like a sheet of notebook paper. a 700 mhz G4 256 ram a combo drive adc out conection ipod style battery and a beautiful 13" screen. The premise of the pad is you take a powermac G4, a Tibook, a newton, and Powerbook Duo dock and throw them in a blender. You get the pad. This computer resembles a giant PDA. It has the handwriting recognizition that apple has been perfecting. When at your desk it sits in a little craddle dock that resembles the studio display (slightly thicker) the dock itself houses permanant power, one PCI slot, and airport base station. the pad can then be used as a desktop machine. when you go to board meetings you take the pad in with you and just write notes. none of this graffiti crap. you double tap apple works, open a new writing document (not word processing, writing document) and start writing. when its your turn for the presentation just plug the projector in. when you want to show your boss the ad you've been working on uncraddle the machine walk into his office and show him. He tells you he wants the sky to be overcast. well make it over cast and find out what he thinks. this machine will cut down on paper waste, time waste, email waste and everything else that goes along with havinging to sync three machines (desktop, pda, notebook) everyone will want one of these.

7) Servers
we will see a modified G4 server that is basically a double wide powermac. it will have the internal raid on one side and the powermac on the other. this will continue to use the g4 as long as possible.

we will see another new addition to the server line with a rack mounting design. im thinking something along the effect of the cube.

8) software out the wazoo.
imovie 3
itunes 3
iphoto 2
mac os 10.2
mac os 9.5
quicktime 6
Appleworks 6.5
education stuff
business stuff

9) oh and one more thing
ipod has a new friend the icam

and finally number 10 prediction
apple will sell a record 2 million machines in q2 and 6 for the year
pushing its market share from 4 percent to nearly 6 percent.

this is the year of the mac folks we have much to see yet and apple will do it you will see.

After Apple recent form this year of releasing things on the sly..... I think it really throws the cat amongst the pigeons now doesn't it.....

Powermacs are definite....... just what kind are they going to be.......?

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee    the excitement......

this is what will happen, i am sure of it my genuis has used all posts on 3 forums i have looked at over the last 3 months and apples product line to make these predictions all of which will prove to be true.
By upgrading the tibooks apple leaves room for a ibook with a G4 to come, but not compete with the tibook for the time being. Drool over whatever specs you wish, but it will most likely be 400 and 500 or 450 and 550 mhz. it will offer bus speeds of 100 or 133 i really don't know. and will offer a 16 or 32 mb graphics card, it is total assumption as to which. (most likely the 32 though) the high end wil offer standard airport card.

With the G3 being dead, apple moves onto the G5 in the powermacs. Beleive whatever specs you wish, but it should be from the 1-1.6 ghz range support ddr, and have bus speeds of over 300mhz.
The tibook will go unchanged, maybe the lowend will get standard airport card or there will be something with bluetooth although that is unlikely.
The imac will go unchanged, a slight possibilty of a minimal increase in speed and the odds of a 17inch is 99-1.
The emac will finally go on sale to the public if it hasn't already.
The ipod may have a price decrease, or a rebate program. no other changes on the ipod.
Good chance of 10.2, unless 10.1.5 hasn't come out yet.
30% possibilty of another handheld device that looks really cool.
MWSF will bring the tibook G5 unless it is realeased some time between july and january. MWNW 2003 will probably bring something cool that was unexpected and some time between now and then the ipod will change in some way. MWSF 2004 will bring os11 which will be absolutely by far the best operating system known to man.By the time os12 is realesed apple will control 15-20% of the market.
isn't that cool?

Unfortunately, Courts are very reluctant to enter orders in which the Court, or worse, someone else, is "babysitting" a defendant. For example, a court won't enter an order requiring a defendant to build a house, but will enter an order requiring a defendant to immediately pay a plaintiff the value of a new house.

The reason for this is because (other than family and child law), Courts want cases to be resolved.

If the Court required M$ to do anything in the future, it is setting itself up in an oversight role, which is unlikely.

Devil's advocate: On the other hand, an order requiring that certain things be done on or before certain dates is enforceable through contempt proceedings. Should the actions be met on or before the target dates, then there is resolution.

The only limiting factor there is whether the DOJ wants to oversee M$'s conduct in the future.
