Hi Everyone,

I need to upgrade my 20" iMac Core 2 Duo ram but I'm not sure which ram to buy. I only have 1gig now. Do I have to buy Apple's ram to not void my warrantee? What ram is the best for my iMac? What's the best way to add more ram? (i.e. should I add 1 more to make 2gigs or should I add a 2gig stick to make 3?)

Thanks in advance for the help.

Steve

No you do not need to buy apple's ram.

I use otherworldcomputing.com, they make it easy to make sure you are getting the right ram for the computer you own.

I would open up your mac first and see whether your 1gb that you currently have is 1 stick of 1Gb or 2 sticks of 512mb. Actually, you call use system profiler to see what sticks of RAM are currently in there.

I use Crucial ram, Apple ram is way to expensive. If you need to return your computer under warranty, just remove the extra ram you fitted.

Add as much ram as you can afford. You can never have too much !! :)
