MP 7,1 Premiere Pro 2020 / Vega II Solo Driver Issue

I'm getting this message every time I try to open 2020 Adobe Premiere Pro on my New Mac Pro 2019:
"Premier Pro could not find any capable video play modules. Please update your video display drivers and start again."

2019 Mac Pro: 16-core, Vega II solo, 192gb ram (OWC)

Restarts don't help. Any ideas here or anyone else experiencing this issue?

From adobe about updating drivers and some other options
(but I'm the admin with permissions. I'm not sure what they mean by renaming folders)

Nothing on that page applies to you. You should contact Adobe and request support, maybe they didn’t even test Premiere with 2019 Mac Pro yet and need this to be escalated to developers.

I use PP and FCPX on my macs and will purchase the Mac Pro in a few days.

Yes, as others have said.... PLEASE let us know what Adobe tells you and how you get the issue resolved. We use Adobe exclusively and this issue would be a huge disappointment for us.

BTW.... does this help ?
 
Omg if this is a general issue.... will find out tomorrow morning when I get my machine. The worst that adobe ended their professional phone support a while ago!!

“It's not just PP but its accompanying video audio software as well. Hope someone from Adobe addresses this asap.”
 
I still cannot open Premiere and no response from Adobe yet. Does anyone have a faster line to Adobe Tech Support (maybe through a corporate account)? Again this is a Mac with a Single Vega II card (not duo). This is killing me!

Is it possible ~

Try holding down the Option key while launching. This will reset all your preferences to default.

Have you done a complete uninstall and reinstall? Sometimes that fixes PP quirks.
 
Update: Premiere works, but now Photoshop reports a problem with the GPU driver and doesnt use it..
 
Feels like this should be posted again - NO MP7,1 machine is certified for Adobe or Avid products yet. Autodesk isn't going to look at them until 2020. There are fairly major GPU and GPU driver issues that need to be addressed in 10.15.3 before Avid will even come close to certifying for video tools and even they had pre-announcement access to MP7,1 hardware via ProTools (which still is not really certified to even run on Catalina).

Adobe has not updated their GPU list for ANY of the stock MP7,1 cards yet. That will take time to test, certify and the list will be updated eventually:

"Early adopter" issues like this are ALWAYS a problem with professional software that usually takes (at least) 1-2 update releases before it can be addressed, sometimes both on OS and software.

This week is a terrible week for getting any product support since most offices close for the holiday through the New Year. Really suggest waiting until 2020 when the better Adobe techs are available.

In the meantime, 100% clean install the OS. Install ONE SINGLE application at a time and test individually if you're really trying to troubleshoot.
 
This might tip me over the fence on transitioning to FCPX or DR; just one more reason among the many other stability issues.
I'll try the suggestions. It was done as a clean install originally, but I will try again.

I’m telling myself the same thing again and again but then I end up at clients studios where there’s ONLY premiere...
I find it strange that on my machine I have zero issues while on your similar setup it won’t even Lauch.

Ditto Chfilm! I've too many clients demanding PP (for no good reason). That's why i have both PCs and Macs in the office. The good thing about the iMacs is they can do double duty when all the PCs are engaged in projects.

I dunno maybe it’s time for freelancers to start demanding final cut more actively again.
but it’s also a problem amongst colleagues that most of us have never tried FCP since the debacle that the initial release of FCPX was. They still look at it like iMovie+ and don’t take you serious when you start talking about it.. but with a monster machine like the new Mac Pro it makes real sense to use the most optimized software I think..

These are ALWAYS the growing pains of early adopters.

Yeah, but the problems with Premiere (stability wise) are much deeper than just 7,1 early adopter growing pains. For the last several years working in Premiere, I'm experiencing crash after crash to the point where I hit "command + S" about every 5 minutes or so just so I don't lose the last bit of my work. Adobe needs to get their act together in the QC department on this piece of software and/or do a major redesign.

I installed Pr on my new Mac last night and it ran with GPU acceleration without an issue. I found a bug with the newer versions of Pr on Windows a few months ago. Adobe introduced some sort of problem when you're dealing with long-GOP file formats, such as h.264. Bigger h.264 files would cause Pr to go completely unresponsive when you first import the file, and again when you first put them on the timeline. Thankfully, Adobe's Tier 2 support folks were able to quickly reproduce the problem, and they have an open bug internally (with my name one it. Yay! ...)

Sure enough, the bug exists on the Mac version as well. DOH! I noted while I was importing some of my longer 4K h.264 files that Pr would go completely unresponsive for a few minutes. Grrrr....
 
There was a new point update to Premiere.

Anyone had a chance to test it for better performance?

Better playback of Long GOP formats? Laggy playback of Mp4 is what's killing me right now.
