Not that I've speed tested any of my other external drives, but I just ran Blackmagic on the dLite/OWC Mercury Electra 3G SSD (GUID partition/120GB). Results were write/read 130/160 MB/s.

It would be interesting to know about the M500 speed. After reading the specs on the OWC, I can see why your results look slow.

Yea, not impressed with the OWC--nor with my lack of pre-purchase research.:roll eyes: I did give them a call, and they said their SSD were not set up for Blackmagic, but for Aja. With Aja the Electra tested 237 MB/s write, 245 MB/s read.

The Crucial 960 in the dLite enclosure worked out to 380 MB/s write, 420 MB/s read.

Yep, nice huh? I remember the same ballpark with a Sam 840. It was a 250, and I think the larger sizes get a tiny bit faster from the extra cap.

Thanks for checking it out BTW ;)

^ No problems, it good to get these experiences out there so others can take them into consideration.

Well, you should have gotten the Electra 6G SSD as the 3G is really only intended for older Macs that only have SATA II.
