Preorder or take my chances?

I've never done a preorder before, as I usually just wait for a deal. However, I'm really excited about replacing my Series 0 SS!

I went to Apple's website and put a S4 40mm SS in the bag, and I added my zip at the end for the delivery estimate. Apple is saying it will deliver Oct 12-19, and I'm guessing it won't change after I officially pay.

As much as the SS watches are, I'm wondering if I might not be better off taking my chances at Best Buy face-to-face next week. Any thoughts from preorder vets?

Do both, pre-order and then take your chances on Friday. If successful cancel you're pre-order. Seems like the pre-order rush is over now as the deliver date you got has been the same as of this morning. If you wait longer it could slip to November.

That helps a lot! I didn't want to take the chance of my money being tied up with a preorder and not being able to access it if I got lucky. Considering that I now see that all of Best Buy's preorder pick-up supply has been sold, I suspect it will be unlikely that I'll find one in the store anyway.

I don’t know how B.B. handles things, but it’s Apple that typically charges your credit card a day before it ships.

I would do both as Luba mentioned. With Apple’s free returns and all, you have nothing to lose

My situation similar to yours. I preordered the first generation SS 42mm Apple Watch from Apple, and ended up wearing it until this year. I preordered the SS 44mm from AT&T this year, but ended up getting an Oct 1-8 delivery timeframe. Their app and site were experiencing issues, despite granting me access a few minutes prior to 3 am EST. My suggestion is in-line with everyone else that has responded, two options are better than none and/or one.
