I don't think this is correct. Your credit card company will generate a unique id that is sent to the merchant. That id will still be valid even if you remove the card from Apple pay.

No it won't, the bank is notified the second you remove it from passbook. (BofA sends an email warning the removal of a card) and most likely make the old device account number invalid.

I had the same issue

I actually got off the phone with apple and i just updated my credit card infomation for both my orders

That's funny I had the same thing happen to me and thought about it after and wasn't comfortable about it either. I called apple and just had them update my payment info and just used me card. If you used Apple pay on your order under payment it says device account number and now that you restored your phone it gives it a new number. I didn't want to risk it and just used my card.

Another quick update, I also preordered a high-demand, sold-out item from Target using Apple Pay. Even though the item is supposed to ship over a month from now, they can't modify anything with the order. Not particularly happy with Target seeing how most other online sites can modify an order that hasn't been shipped. I guess I'll see first-hand if Apple Pay still works for previously-authorized orders after being deleted, but if not this really sucks. Something as simple as having to restore a phone can mess up these online orders. On the other hand, I suppose that's the downside in order to ensure fraudulent charges don't occur after a phone is wiped.

Again, thanks for all the responses about this.

Is this item the Jigglypuff Amiibo? LOL.

Apple is great with changing the billing information. Now if they could just ship my watch, that'd be great. Thanks.

Yup. Kind of bummed that it's going to be tough to get that amiibo now, but I'll try and go to the store early on launch and get the figure.

At least I was able to get the order details changed for the Apple Watch. I'd rather have the Apple Watch over the amiibo :p

LOL, I'm missing Greninja, Ness, Lucina and Robin preorders :-(

So, I'm not sure if this is a non-issue topic but it certainly has me a bit nervous. I preordered the Apple Watch practically as soon as preorders were open using Apple Pay on my iPhone using the Apple Store app and got an early delivery estimate.

Today, I had to restore my iPhone, but that apparently deleted my Apple Pay Credit and Debit cards and I had to set them up again. Because they are linked up by a unique code, do I need to get in touch with Apple and change the billing information for my Apple Watch order or will the order still go through regardless?

EDIT: Just to clarify, I have not been charged yet on my card for the order.

Just had a strange thing happen. I had a $42 + change order for my secondary charger. The funny thing was I originally paid for it with Apple Pay on the 10th. My order notified me it was awaiting payment, it was no longer able to authorize payment with the apple token I had supplied. In hind site I did restart my phone because I was instructed to by an apple genius. Just a heads up for anyone that restarted their phone after purchase.

I used Apple Pay to order as well and then did an iTunes install of iOS 8.2 on the phone over the weekend. It re-added my CC to Apple Pay. Yesterday I got a notice that the payment was declined and I should log in to the Apple store to update payment info. After doing that, payment went through, but status on the Watch shipment has not changed.
