I'm looking for a prepaid data plan for an old iphone 4s to use as a mobile hotspot for a month or two.

Anyone know of a good plan? Will this even work? Going on a roadtrip and would love to have an extra 10gb of data or so to burn through.

Thanks,

Anthony

Cricket (cricketwireless.com) has a bring your own phone plan. You could get their 8 GB plan and add mobile hotspot for a total of $60. You can order the SIM online for $10 or buy one at Target, Walmart, or Best Buy, or for like $3 on eBay. No activation fee if you activate online, but it may be more economical to just add data to your traditional cellular plan. An extra 10 GB does not come at a throw-around "if I need it" type of cost, unfortunately. Everyone has the market tightly cornered to avoid people using it as home Internet, and it's no wonder why when you've got AT&T who has a vested interest in both home and mobile Internet.

Note that their unlimited plan is not eligible for mobile hotspot. (Of course.)

PM for $25 double-sided referral code.

You gotta love the little blue bars on the AT&T GoPhone website illustrating the difference between 2 GB, 5 GB, and 8 GB. It's like... uh, is this to scale? Apparently 2 GB is about 10 times less than 8.
