The WiFi version is launching worldwide by the end of March, that's what Steve Jobs said in the keynote. The only thing that isn't going to be available from the get-go is the 3G version, and the 3G plans to go along with it.

Unless Best Buy is involved in the launch I'm out of luck - nearest apple store is about 300 miles from here.

You could be in luck. Although it's not clear from the article if BB will sell them on launch day or a week later.
