    Firebox.

Better support, better drivers, more users = better reliability.

The Alesis is certainly not a bad one, it has many useful features. But in terms of quality the Firebox wins.

It depends on your needs really. Are you fine with having just two built in preamps? Do you want to sacrifice the expandability for better quality and support?

If you want to record a drumkit in the future you could just add a Behringer ADA8000 to the Alesis and have 8 more channels with good preamps for a small amount of money.

But then again, the Firepod is really cheap these days, so if you don't mind the size of it, it's a really good option.
