I came across a brand new SE 64GB and bought it for my daughter. Fully charged it up and took it off the charger at midday. 5 hours later it's at 30% battery with 1hr 30mins screen time. That seems pretty bad to me and I question whether that will last a full day I really doubt it, I reckon 2hrs screen time at best. She hasn't even all her apps on yet

What is the OS?

iOS 12 killed my battery life on my SE.

It performs better overall, but the battery life has suffered.

Yes, same for me.

I wouldn’t say my battery life is horrible now under iOS12, but it is not as good as it once was.

Could it be that you were downloading and setting it up when it was taken off the charger and that your daughter had a good amount of cloud data and apps to put back into the device?
Just a guess of course.

Some apps use tons of power depending on what you're doing. Simply stating screen time is meaningless- it doesn't signify anything.
A brand new battery on any phone with any OS can be killed in a few hours (4) if the phone is used non stop with certain apps.
But the SE has the smallest battery of any iPhone- so it won't last as long regardless. It's a tiny phone.

That’s weird then. I get very decent battery life and mine is at 97%.

Do you see anything unusual when you check the battery settings for battery usage by app? Or do you see only the expected ones?

A little over a year later, mine is at 96%

iOS 12.1.1 installed, jailbroken. I use mine for mainly music and podcasts. Not that many apps installed. Uses either data coming from my iPhone X or LTE itself to stream. LTE uses more power. Music that is played is usually already stored. Music streamed to Bluetooth speaker.

6 hour shift and my iPhone SE usually ends up being around 70-75%. I have to agree iOS 12 runs great but battery life isn’t. Being jailbroken, you’d expect battery life to take a dip. Haven’t noticed with mine vs prior to jail breaking. I even use system info for advanced info and using resolution of iPhone 6/7/8 and iPhone X gestures and UI.

Day 2 guys all is not well and can't figure out why. Today had 2 hrs screen time, took if of charger at 8am, Its not 6pm and its turned off. But the funny thing is, battery got to 30% and turned off, I thought this very odd, turned it on again battery 20% it didn't even finish turning on and it turned off again. It now displays the connect charger screen

Its now sitting turning on and off itself. Connecting it to the computer shows me several things have been replaced from the originals, battery and camera module.

You’re saying that your computer tells you that the phone was repaired? How so?

If you believe it’s a hardware issue, can you return it for a refund?

A windows program called 3uTools tells you everything about the phone, including if various parts have been replaced as it can read what the serial number of the factory-installed originals were. Yeah I can get a refund but its the hassle of it. I'd rather fix it if I could

After reviewing the results, it show that “Performance Management” has bee applied to the phone and it requires to be serviced. Would you please verify the country that you’re currently in?

My SE did exactly this, same symptoms. Bought at John Lewis but Apple shop warranty replaced it after a diagnostic session. Dud battery
