Prevent devices from synching up

Hi. I just got my first ever iPad.

This iPad will (hopefully) be used entirely as an external monitor to my iPhone.

I do NOT want the iPad trying to copy anything from my iPhone during set-up, and I do NOT want the iPad to try and synch-up with my iPhone. (I suppose this includes my MacBook Pro also.)

Because I will be using this iPad as an external monitor while shooting video out on the streets, I don't want my real AppleID or any of my data being on it in case it gets stolen or I get mugged!

(I can keep my iPhone in my pocket, but having an iPad will make me feel naked. (So easy to "grab and go".)

If I create a new AppleID, with a separate email address (e.g. ipad@ambrosia.com) will that PREVENT anything from getting copied or synched from my iPhone, yet still allow me to do things like download new versions of iOSPad or any apps I may want?

Oh, and can I even create a secondary AppleID because won't it require me to have a mobile #? (I only have one mobile # for my iPhone.)

You have several options:

• Don't sign in at all
  • I wouldn't recommend this. The iPad wouldn't be activation locked, and you wouldn't be able to track or wipe the iPad remotely if you were to lose it.
  • You'd still need to sign into the App Store in order to download apps.
• Use a different Apple ID
  • You may still want to sign into the App Store with your regular Apple ID though, especially if you have paid apps or subscriptions; otherwise, you'll be paying for those apps twice.
• Use your regular Apple ID, but turn off the things you don't want to sync
  • This will prevent things from syncing over iCloud, but still be able to take advantage of activation lock using your regular account instead of having to manage two accounts.

How do you plan on using the iPad as a monitor for your iPhone? You can't AirPlay to the iPad, nor can you plug your iPhone into the iPad and have it display the iPhone's screen. Do you mean plugging your iPhone in and viewing pictures/video through the Files app?

You need a cellular # to get an Apple ID, right?

If so, can I have two Apple ID's linked to one cellular #?
