Prevent Excel files from opening in Google drive

recently my iCloud drive Excel files (.xlsx) defaults to opening in Google drive app on my iPhone in stead of just being 'pre-viewed', which i prefer. Anybody know how to change that back without deleting the Google drive app?

Someone else posted a similar issue with .doc files in the Files app in iOS 11. Are you also using the Files app in iOS 11 (and not using iOS 10)?

Then it would seem that DGGoingUphill from the other thread has guessed correctly and the Google Drive update of a few days ago has created this issue and it affects both iOS 10 and the test release of iOS 11.

You can send Google feedback by opening Google Drive, clicking the menu icon>Help & Feedback>Send feedback.
