I deleted all my music from my harddisk as my harddisk was full. This music was already on my Ipod. Now I have some new music I want to upload. I am afraid that when I connect my Ipod to my PC it will synchronise the two and delete all my music from my Ipod (as my harddisk has no music). I cant seem to find how to prevent the Ipod from synchronising as I can only switch this function off when its connected. When I connect it, it will synchronise however... what to do???.....

p.s. whats the best program to get music from Ipod to PC> I have seen a few programs but the freeware only does 100 songs at the time. I have 8000+

If your iPod is configured for disk access, you should be able to connect your iPod to a PC that does not have iTunes loaded, and just copy all the files in the iPod_Control folder, which is normally hidden, but you can unhide by the usual Windows "Show hidden files". Then, let iTunes import that whole folder, organizing it in the process.

Then, just set your iPod to manually manage your music and you should be OK.

Close iTunes and quit all those pesky apps that run in the background.

I wouldn't chance it, however, so if you have another iTunes-less PC, I would use something like iPodRip to grab the contents from the iPod and copy it over.

ps. that was pretty dumb to delete songs off the HD. :p
