Hi
I'm completely new to the Apple world. On my new macbook pro with Yosemite 10.10.1, suddenly, the preview app doesn't work anymore and crashes all times. Simultaneously, the photoshop and other adobe apps (in design, dreamweaver...) also crash when I try to start them.

Can anyone help me ?
Thanks a lot in advance.

Best
Julien

Suggest you upgrade to 10.10.2.

Hi

thanks for the advice, I just updated my Yosemite OS to 10.10.2 but it did not solve the preview problem nor the photoshop one.

Any other suggestion ?

Thanks
Julien

My suggestion is a clean reinstall.

I'm not sure I've been experiencing the same problems the O.P. has been having, but I too had been noticing that some apps, Preview in particular, have been prone to hanging. The problem in Preview would seem to become particularly more pronounced after having already opened several files (usually PDFs). Not only would Preview "beach ball", but many times it would freeze the whole system for up to a few minutes at a time, a few times requiring a hard reboot.

This was on a clean install of 10.10.0 with further updates to 10.10.2. I did a clean reinstall of 10.9.5 last night because I've been getting fed up with this and other issues I was having and I want to determine if 10.10.x is indeed what is causing it all.

Hi
thanks for your input. When you mean "clean reinstall", you mean that you reinitialized completely the mac (and lost all data and other soft installations) ? I'd really like to avoid to do that...

First make sure you have a backup. I would suggest creating a separate partition on your boot hard drive. Do a fresh install on the separate partition of 10.10.2. Boot to the separate partition. See if you have the same issue with preview crashing. The first partition still has your original install on it. You can reboot to the first partition again and delete the separate partition. With a backup you can do a clean install and restore data from the backup. If you do a clean install I would suggest not re-installing everything right away. Instead install one thing at a time and see how the system reacts. If you do have an app causing an issue this will be the way to find it. Hope this helps.
