PREVIEW doesn't play GIF's anymore?!

I know, I found this upsetting as well. You must use QuickTime 7 to view animated GIF's now.

I wish Apple would add this functionality to iPhoto.

Is GraphicConverter now installed on all new Macs? It plays animated GIFs.

When did it ever do this? It's not working for me in Panther. I always just use Safari to play them.

I don't remember Preview ever being able to play .gif's either. I know you could open it and view all of the frames, but it couldn't play them. Where was this play function before?
