Preview doesn't work

Has anyone ran into the issue with Preview no longer working? If so what did you do to resolve the issue?

what version of 10.12 are you on? are there any OS updates waiting to be installed? otherwise, 2 things: create a test admin account, try it there. or reinstall the OS from recovery...

I'm on 10.12.2. Ill try that admin trick.
Update the test unit works.

so a test account works; suggests that the problem is with your account. you could try this: close Preview, go to HOME>Library>Preferences, and delete com.apple.Preview.plist

reboot, see how that goes...

EDIT: found this on apple forums: (this is in your HOME library)

1. In Finder, open ~/Library/Containers (to open the hidden Containers folder, in Finder use Shift-Command-G and type ~/Library/Containers in the pop-up window)
   
   
2. Delete the entire com.apple.Preview folder
   
   
3. Restart Preview
