Preview no longer works?

All of a sudden, my new MBP no longer shows me a preview of a file when I press the spacebar, instead, it shows something like can be seen in the attached image. This goes for all files. Does anyone know what setting I can change to go back to the way it was?

Thanks for your help. I rebooted and it seemed to take care of it, so I didn't need to try this.
