Preview vs. Xee (pixelated images when in "full size

Because of their lightweight and uncomplicated nature, I spend a lot of time with Preview and Xee for photos instead of iPhoto. However, I noticed the other day that when I clicked "Full Size" on Preview I got a very pixelated image. When I hit "full size" for the same photo with Xee, there was not pixelization, and the image looked very clear.

Have I messed up a setting somewhere in preview, or is this just one of those things we have to deal with.

Also, is there another suggestion for something that is as simple and lightweight as these two?

Preview doesn't smooth/antialias images, only text. You'll find that Xee has a menu for anti-alias (or smoothing, i can't remember) so you can set various levels, and make the images look better at higher levels of zoom.

iPhoto smooths images.
