I'm trying to open a Briggs & Stratton service manual.

The text will load but not the illustrations.

I took a screen shot showing Figure 1 being blank.

E D I T : I downloaded a different PDF reader called "PDFgear" Same issue with that PDF reader also.

There have certainly been bugs in the past where Preview/PDFKit won't display some images in PDFs.

I don't know if PDFgear uses PDFKit or not; but apps that definitely don't are Foxit Reader and of course Adobe's own Acrobat Reader.

However, if you have a PDF viewer that uses a different PDF rendering engine (i.e. not MacOS's own PDFKit), then the PDF is likely malformed or not compliant with the spec.

benwiggy,

Thanks for your reply. I'll probably have to buy a hard copy of the service manual if I ever want to see the illustrations.

How about posting a link to the pdf file you're having problems with, so that others can see it and "have a crack at it" ???

Try finding a version somewhere else…like here:

I went to the page linked in reply 6 above.
Tried to download it.
It says I can't download unless I'm a member of that forum.

Post the file as an attachment HERE.
Or someplace we can actually download and view it.
