Previous Gen. studio displays

I was wondering if there was another type of stand for the 15", 17" and 20" LCD displays before the aluminum ones? I'm going to purchase one and am not sure about the tilted up at all times display? does this affect anything?

They can be VESA mounted. They have the tripod legs and I don't recall having seen any other kinds of stands for them.
