I purchased BiteSMS a few weeks ago and updated to version 5.0 recently. I've been hit with a bunch of errors and random crashes, so I decided to uninstall it and everything is back to normal now.

How can I go back to 4.99 or any of the previous versions? Cydia only seems to let me install the latest..

can anyone believe this? I emailed bitesms from their website, and this is the response i get:

"Sorry, that is not possible. But tell us what the problems are with 5.0.

Dev - biteSMS team"

They want ME to help them fix their issues with their app, but they dont want to help me install a working version? hahaha what a ****ing joke

There is nothing wrong with the newest version of BiteSMS - you must have something else installed that is conflicting with it and causing a problem. Have you tried installing the latest beta instead? Add the following source in Cydia:
http://www.bitesms.com/cydia/beta5.1

And by the way, this should really be in the Hacks forum.

They want to help resolve your problem. If you can't figure that out then please uninstall biteSMS and use the native app or use another SMS app. You'll be doing biteSMS and everyone who uses it a big favor.

Perfect, thank you. The SB hasn't crashed yet, so hopefully it holds up. I did notice something fishy though, while my phone is locked (on vibrate), and I send myself a textmsg from my bro's phone, my iphone will vibrate and displays "New text msg blah blah blah", and then after 1-2 seconds, it vibrates again, as if it got another new text, but it only got 1.. is this supposed to be a feature? and how can i disable it from vibrating twice per text? I tried it 3 times, and it happened each time.. Whenever my phone is unlocked though, and im on safari or whatever, it only vibrates once when a new text comes in..

you should read all the options.. or bitesms.com for help bc everything is right there in the settings tabs

Do you have LockInfo installed? If so, go into Settings>LockInfo>Plugins>SMS and make sure the "Improved Performance" is turned OFF. When that's turned on when using BiteSMS, it's been known to cause a double alert.

If you don't have LockInfo, I'm not sure what could be causing it.

I do have lockinfo installed, and I checked that specific setting, and "Improved Performance" was already turned off. I turned it back on to test it, same results, and disabled it again, same results..

Edit: I have now ruled out LockInfo as the culprit. I uninstalled it from cydia and rebooted, and the double alert still occurs.

Any other ideas?

ps: is there any way to generate a list of all cydia-installed extensions/apps/etc? I figured something in there might be conflicting with BiteSMS, and i want to post the list on here, but it would take too long to type it out by hand.

Nevermind-- solved it.. just searched for a 'modified' version of bitesms, Pre v5.0, and I found 4.97.. works wonderfully, with no double alerts!
