Probably because it matched the color of the band. The LTE one in many situations will not.

I was joking. Had that band been any other color, I'm sure we would have all been critical of it, too.

The dot was color keyed to the band; but, it's still a red dot. It was the only watch with a red dot -- until now.

It was also literally the most expensive gold edition watch..

I'm not sure of your point. There are lots of expensive things I don't find particularly attractive.

It's just a normal over reaction. Suddenly we have so many experts on color came on here to educate us that red dot is "hideous monstrosity". It's internet in a nutshell.

I don't have an issue with the red dot. I mean, it's different to say the least. And I do think it looks best on the stainless model.
