Will Au have the same price drop as the US with the iphone 3g? as right now the iphone 3g 8gb is still like $AUD700+

and can you get unlocked legit any where in AU?

Save opening anther post with the iphone 3g s how much do you think it will be to get unlocked or as prepaid the smallest gb one.

Europe has so far only had price increases for higher end models, and no change on the 3G, so I'd be surprised.

I believe Optus will unlock the iPhone when you buy it. It should be on the Optus website. I'm pretty sure they'll do it with the iPhone 3GS.
But I don't see why, as all major telcos in Australia will now be selling the 3GS.

ea but vodafone do not sell a prepaid iphone 3g so they will most likely not for the g3s 🙁

I found this on the Optus website. Not sure if you've found out about unlocking in Australia.

Handset Locking: The Apple iPhone 3G is locked to the Optus network. Optus can only unlock iPhones purchased from an Optus outlet within Australia . For Mobile Account customers only who wish to use their iPhone on another network, please call Optus on 133 713.
