Went to my local Apple store and was gonna trade in my 6s+ for a 8plus as long as they would match Walmart’s price. I asked the guy that met me at the door and he said yep we match to within 10% which I agreed was fair. So he called for the specialist and I repeated what I wanted and everything was a go on the deal, they even brought out the new 8+ and tested out my phone which still looks brand new and was told as much. Well someone came over to the specialist and apparently said we don’t price match on iPhones. And I’m like I have before and he said sorry so I walked out🙄 Anybody else have experience with price matching on iPhones?

I would get on to Apple customer service, or go back in with the terms and conditions to price matching from the website if it’s on there (it will be somewhere) and kick up a fuss about wasting your time etc... they may offer to help out as a gesture of goodwill give you a gift card alongside any purchase. Unlikely, but it’s not unheard of.

I agree with the above and would look for something in writing to take in with you.

Honestly, price matching doesn't seem like something Apple would do. They have never been big into discounting anything and have always treated their retail experience like it was worth a premium (arguable.) With so many plans/stores out there, not sure they would want to get into the whack a mole game of verifying every other offer out there. Especially when they get paid by Walmart the same amount regardless and it would be profit Walmart was leaving on the table, not Apple.

Apple needs to be on the same page in terms of what they offer for price matching, if the OP was approved for the price match and then they’re told ‘no’, that’s not a good look on Apple. Somebody needs to be retrained at that store the OP visited.

On a side note:

The only other thing I want to say about price matching, is that the item has to be physically in stock at the competitor in order for Apple to price match it.
