Is it on the 10th or the 20th that they announce the price of the new iphones? And what historically will happen price-wise to the other versions (and when is that announced 10th or 20th)?

4 is more or less sold out already. Walmart already has 4s for ~$40, and 5 for ~$100, while Apple currently sells them for $100 and $200 respectively. Does Walmart pre-sell the soon to be sales price or does that disappear and match Apples come the 10th/20th? Or, is there no historical trend because this was the first time Walmart has undersold Apple?

Any help would be much appreciated, even if it only comes from a vague memory.

I assume the price will be announced during the announcement on the 10th, which I also assume pre-orders will open up on or relatively soon after.

To my best guess, the 4 and 4S will be discontinued so they can unify their product line on the new screen size the 5 currently has and the lightning port instead of the 30-pin.

I have no idea what the pricing on the 5 would be.

- Prices are always announced during the event
- Pre-orders will most likely go live the following morning at 3:00am as usual, the only exceptions were i think last year, or was it the year before? All previous iphones went up for preorder the following day at 3:00am EST

Yes preorders should be Friday the 13th 3am EST.

We can only guess what the pricing will be. Expect a $0, $99 and $199 option all with a 2 year contract.

The only 'for sure' is that the pricing will be announced at the event on the 10th. When pre orders and actual releases will happen is still up in the air.

Thank you everyone!
The pricing announcement was my main concern.

Here's hoping that in 6 days the 5 will be free. At worse, it sounds like Walmart's prices will be the new standard. But maybe more likely the prices will get better.

Presently there's:
$0 4 8gb
$99(/$39) 4s 16gb
$199(/$98) 5 16gb, $299 32gb, $399 64gb

So... following that same pattern:
$0 4s 8gb
$99 5 16gb
$199 5s 16gb, $299 32 gb, $399 64gb

Or... more likely, since they'd have to go back to reproduce the 8gb 4s:
$0 4s 16gb
$99 5 32gb
$199 5s 32gb, $299 64gb

Or... get rid of 4s altogether:
$0/99 5 16gb
$99/199 5s 16gb, $199/299 32gb, $299/399 64gb

It seems like the last of those three options would be the most likely: retire 4 and 4s to make space for 5s and 5c... offering higher memory space on the premium phones (5/5s) to encourage people to stay contracted. But it would seem that the 64gb 5s would be $399 if the presumably 8gb 5c is going to be $300, pushing up the 15gb 5 to $99. (Only reason I see them not getting rid of 4s is all of the extra junk they have in-store: speakers, etc etc that they need to sell, and they haven't started pushing lightening only products have they?)

Basically the 5 is either going to be free with 16gb, $99 for 16 gb, or $99 for 32gb. At worse, Apple will match the Walmart price for 5... and otherwise, it'll either be cheaper or you'll get more memory for the same price. So anyone that's tempted by Walmart's $98 iPhone 5- wait until the 10th.

The problem with this and lots of other analyses on here is the fact that they're building the 5C to replace the 5, not to supplement it in the lineup. I'm not sure it makes sense to equip the 5C with the same internals but a "cheaper" plastic build and then price it above the 5, which sports the same "high end" chassis as the flagship phone. They're also not going to sell an 8GB phone anymore, not ever again.

I don't know, I have a feeling that the 4S may remain for sale (free on contract) and the 5 will go away in the sense that it will still be buyable till stock is gone from resellers, but it won't exist in Apple's official late 2013 lineup.

Either that or the 5C fits below the 5 and the 5S, so the lineup would be

5C at $0 w/ 2 year
5 at $99 w/ 2 year
5S at $199 w/ 2 year

But there's no way the 5C goes above a still-for-sale 5.

Ugh, who knows. We've got 5 more days.

I agree with you. A lot of people are saying the 4S is being discontinued for the 5S release and I understand why they are saying that but I don't think it will be.

We will all find out soon.

I was thinking the 5c was going to be offered only via non-contract. People usually spend up near $600 for such, so a $300 option would be welcome for that. But you are right that it would make their price scheme easy if they did offer it on-service for free.

Oh, thank you for clarifying "They're also not going to sell an 8GB phone anymore, not ever again. "

I do hope that on September 10th, absolutely every option is still on the table: the current line up at current prices, and knowledge about what's going to be available and their prices.... so there's a 10 day time span where you can choose between all five phones: 4,4s,5,5s,5c.

Prices on 10th, pre-orders early AM Friday 13th?

Apple hasn't always had a $0 w/contract option, so, just because they do now, that doesn't necessarily mean they will continue to do so.

It would seem to me, from what I've read, the 5C is basically Apple's new "entry level" iPhone. It will cost them a lot less to produce, if the plastic back is as it looks in leaked pics. And also, 2 new phones allows them to axe the 30-pin connector, and have A6 or better processors that can handle iOS 7 and beyond.

5C (no LTE) $50 w/contract (did he say no LTE:eek:, yes, no LTE)
5 (w/LTE) $99 w/contract
5S w/A7 processor, enhanced security w/fingerprint sensor, enhanced cam $199 w/contract

The memory configurations, I think, will go like this:

5C 16GB
5 32/64GB (or 32GB only?)
5S 32/64/128GB

They will drop both 4 & 4S. This means 2 form factors: 1 for plastic back 5C, 1 for 5/5S. This is my practical, business perspective.

iphone 5

1. After the release of 5c/5s or September 10 announcements, how much do you guys think a new ATT iphone 5 with no contract will sell for?

2. After the release of 5c/5s or September 10 announcements, By what percentage do you guys think the price will drop on a used ATT iphone5 with no contract?

If anyone has last years info, I guess a price comparison can be used to estimate by using the iphone5 vs iphone 4s. Thanks.
