So it seems like ANY UHD video I attempt to play on the prime video app just sits there and spins as if the video is loading. It never loads and says the video cannot be played at this time. I have no clue what's going on. It's not a bandwidth issue - I have a gig connection and play 4K fine on Netflix and from the Apple Store. All the other videos on the Prime app play fine. But basically anything that has the UHD tag on it will simply not load. Any ideas? I've rebooted the Apple TV, uninstalled, reinstalled the app.. associated disassociated my account, etc...

what 4k UHD tv brand do you have? is it non-HDR? i have exactly the same issue with my Samsung 4k UHD (non-HDR) TV, but my OLED65C7 works perfectly, sample taken from Amazon The Grand Tour UHD hdr.

I have the exact same problem. My TV is a 4K Non-HDR LG. Same resolution videos from Netflix, iTunes, Vimeo and Plex play without issues. My internet connect is ethernet to fibre.

Season 2 isn't in UHD only in HD SDR

no its HDR10 for sure, just took screenshot with HUD enabled, perhaps your network connection? That new Nissan NSX looks gorgeous....

I'm having the exact same problem. Sony 4k TV, and 4k content just sits and spins. Could it be an HDMI issue? All other content streams perfectly. VERY high bandwidth network. Video just stalled with black screen and black key frame at beginning of progress bar. Any other insights?

I had the same problem with my Samsung TV. I solved it by plugging in the HDMI cable in all the ports on my TV. It finally worked in one port which I think is set up as 2.2. The other three ports are 2.0.

Excellent, while I haven’t confirmed yet I believe you have solved the issue! The Amazon app wants to see hdcp 2.2. Which is a first for me. As 4K was introduced not all tvs supported hdcp across all hdmi ports. In particular 2014 and 2015 seem like transition years for Samsun and probably others where only select ports had support. In my case 1 of the 4 ports has hdcp 2.2 support.

I will test tonight and post.

I got mine resolved switching to hdcp 2.2 hdmi port, Itunes 4k plays all ports fine.

The issue solved itself for me. Make sure you have the recent version of Prime.

I was also able to solve the Amazon Prime Video UHD problem. My 2014 Samsung TV only supports HDCP 2.2 on HDMI port 3. Moving the apple tv 4k to this port resolved the Amazon Video issue. However in doing so there is a choice to be made on my TV model. The HDCP 2.2 capable HDMI port doesn't offer support for the higher color levels at the 50/60hz ratings. I choose the HDCP path so that Amazon video works and haven't regretted, the picture quality is darn good. Others may choose else wise.

Samsung also offers an evolution kit that enhances connectivity for many of the 2013+ TVs at a cost of $300-400. I'm not willing spend that money for the color settings. Others may need this in order to establish connectivity on their model TV. Looks like there is variation on what the hdmi port setup is depending on year and model. For samsung all 2016 and newer support hdcp on all ports what what I saw.

Updated to latest version of the app, still seeing this issue. Anyone else still having this problem? Can’t play any 4K content.

I did have the same issue, but my set is a Samsung 8500 Curve. i had to change to HDMI 4 input and all worked straight away. HDMI 4 on my set is the only one that does 2.2 HDCP.

Why can I watch 4K shows in EVERY other app except this one? My Apple TV plugs into a Sony receiver that plugs into a Sony TV. Zero problems with other apps. So frustrating...
