Thanks @seajay96. Unfortunately these other options (Joliprint, GoodReader) aren't able to do what I need. I mostly want this capability for documenting receipts, travel and hotel bookings, etc, where you'd at least have to log in again to get to the target page, if you could even do that much. Saving pages to read later in GoodReader isn't what I'm trying to do.

Dumb question: what happens if you just copy the receipt and then grab it from the clipboard with GoodReader?

Thanks but this is the opposite of what I am looking for! It prints from a Mac to an iPhone/iPad/iTouch.

I want to print from an iPad and save it locally and then transfer it to a Mac!

icabmobile

this is an alternative to safari that makes pdf creation easy. you just go to the web page, press the "module" button, select "web to pdf" and it downloads the file for you. you can transfer the file to mac via itunes, upload it to dropbox, or something like that if you want. the app also happens to be inexpensive. i usually browse with safari, but for various tasks, i turn to icabmobile. you'll probably find other things you can do with it as well.

App was pulled from the store by Apple...too bad, really, it works great and I don't know of any similarly functioning apps.

If it's a web page you are trying to print, you can copy the URL to Goodreader and save it to PDF from there.

It's too bad too... I installed the app just before they pulled it. I use it all the time, and it works GREAT for printing websites to PDF via the AirPrint. I only found that it was just pulled from the app store by trying to install it on my wife's iPad from the cloud, but couldn't find it in recently purchased items...

consider yourself lucky because you'll have the app permanently as long as you do a local backup in itunes. Then you can simply transfer it to wifes iPad from that computer (as long as they're using same account of course).

I only heard about it yesterday, so I had to download it off a jailbreak repo. It is a great implementation, and I hope apple caves and brings it back.

When I want a copy of an online receipt, I do a screen capture (press home and on simultaneously). An image is created in iPhoto, which can be emailed, copied, or printed just like any other file.

To me, the best app for what you're looking for is Printopia. I have it on my iPad and everything time I need to save a receipt as a PDF I just click on the browser "send to" button in iPad and it will have my Mac as the printer "send to Mac" (see screenshots on the site) and it sends the receipt as a PDF. It works flawlessly. No need to open an app or paste an url within an app, or take a screenshot on the iPad. This just works.

Here's the review link from a previous post here in MR - 'Printopia' and 'FingerPrint' Bring AirPrint Functionality to Shared Printers.

I was searching the app store for print to PDF, somehow it was deleted off my iPad. For a minute I thought maybe I imagined download and using the app, luckily it's still on my Mac about to sync it back on my devices. It is a really nice app, too bad apple pulled it.

Your item is not available in the US store. I need this! :( As quickoffice pro HD does not allow me to convert some documents in Landscape correctly to PDF and wanted to try another program but since they don't have a OPEN-IN I have to find something that can work from the print command.

Print to PDF

TBH peep the print2pdf is absolutely fantastic!
I love this app!

I save anything I want from emails/web pages even books
( as long as the app is running in background)

Then the items that I have printed to PDF appear in the file archive of the app, where I can then copy to good reader.

The app was not easy to find, but it is available for d/l of a certain app that is infamous for housing cracked apps-forums rules prevents me from disclosing this - <...**ahem.. install...>
now i DO NOT advocate software piracy - but for apps that one can not buy on appstore/cydia - i guess it's a last resort!

here's an e.g of the app:

Message from Print to PDF developer:

Maybe it will return in the future.

This really sucks. If I am on my home network, I simply use printopia, works great. The issue is saving something as a PDF on the road, and this worked great for that.

Hopefully this will be like the camera app volume as shutter, where apple banned the app, and then build the same feature into the core iOS 5 camera app.

Out of business?

Print to PDF

It used to work, but no longer, and I can't reach the developer to get my money back.

Yeah, one of the updates must have broken it, I can't get print 2 PDF to work either. Sad, it was a very good program when it worked.

I have printopia when I am at home, works great, but i usually need to print to a PDF on the road. I haven't found a good substitute yet....

This is easy...

FELLAS.....

I downloaded 3 programs I paid for when I could have done 1. iAnnotate converts web pages to PDF's like a breeze, supports signatures, and lets you highlight, add text boxes, write notes (ie "annotate) to your hearts delight....then of course it has printing toolbars....I haven't messed with these personally yet, but this program boasts being all inclusive. It kicks neu.annotates heinee by letting u have tab browsing and tab pdf's, folders and such to organize your pdf's, exporting and importing from other programs, etc. etc. I'm not a guy pushing this product just a med student who just bought an iPad and been monkeying with it for a week or so as we deal with 140 pages of pdf's a day to learn and sometimes I need to wiki something I don't know and want to import it as a pdf to annotate, etc. Happy hunting hopefully the print features on this program will get you there as well, and by "print" I mean on a hard copy of paper, the pdf is a straight "conversion" with pretty color pictures and everything like a snap! ;) You pay 9.99 whereas neu.annotate is free, but the programs "web to pdf", ProPDF, and PDF converter I think they are called are all made by the same company ( I didn't realize) and I bought all three before finding iAnnotate that does the work of all 4...

Oh, I almost forgot....you can download files off the web too.....:p
