So

I got Tiger working etal.

Now. I have a printer on my PC (canon MP600) that i share with the mac. I have the printer working kinda by using one of the preinstalled drivers in OSX. But it prints too lightly.

So I got the mac drivers for my printer and tried to install them, but they would only install if the printer was physically plugged into the Mac, so I did that. I thought then I could put it back on to the PC, which I did.

Then on the Mac I renamed the location and name of the printer to the proper settings according to what I used on the PC. But it did not work, no printy print. " Error 300 " (something like screw you you have spent hours on this and now I am going to screw you even more by making this impossible unless you do what I say when I say it because I am a finiky POS and you wont let go because you are a perfectionist and I have you by the balls)

So my question, Has any one gotten driver to install on your Mac for a printer that is on another computer? If so How?

Please this is the last step in my fight to integrate Mac and PC onto the same happy plain of existence.

The Windows Printing protocol is provided by CUPS on OS X. In order to use that, you must have either a postscript printer (you don't) OR, a CUPS driver. Canon doesn't provide CUPS drivers, so you have to use open-source (CUPS) drivers, like Gutenprint. Try a newer version of Gutenprint from:
http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/MacOSX.php

Thanks I see that the MP520 is supported that will be much closer and may even work.
