My printer options change when switching apps. For instance, when using Preview, my Brother laser printer has a duplex option when printing PDF files. However, when using Adobe Acrobat, I get a different set of options and duplex printing is nowhere to be found. Uninstalling & reinstalling the printer driver didn't do anything ever after seveal tries with reboot. Anyone have anything like this?

This is completely normal - I also get different printing options depending on which application I use to print. This generally depends on whether or not the application uses the standard Mac OS X print dialog or its own custom dialog.

That certainly does byte the big one! Why in the world any app want to write their own printer dialog? Every printer has it's own driver and own custom features which should be available. Looks like I get to blame adobe for this one.

Who told you that Adobe Acrobat features its "own printer dialog"? To the contrary, each print driver makes available to the OS all of its supported features. Each application accesses those features that are appropriate to it. The print dialog box for a programming code editor is no more or less custom than is the print dialog box for a photo editor. Even though they will provide control over very different features of your printer, they do so within the standards of the print driver architecture of the OS.

Really? Then why does Preview allow duplex printing and Acrobat does not? Somebody is customizing something somewhere. I do not buy the concept that duplex printing is not appropriate for Acrobat.
