I just bought the Canon Pixma MP510 as part of the printer rebate when I bought my MBP. I would like to use the printer wirelessly at college, but the bluetooth card you can buy with it is about $50 (more than I paid for the printer). Is there any other way I can use it wirelessly with my new MBP? Thanks for your help.

if you have your own airport or possibly another wireless router with usb out, you may be able to connect the printer to it and see it over your local network

The driver for most Canons is USB only. Airport Extreme/Express get around this by redirecting USB driver output to the USB port on the Extreme/Express. So get an Extreme/Express. And remember it's for printing only. No scanning via Extreme/Express.

About Bluetooth - printing only works if the print driver has that built-in. You need a CUPS driver to use the built-in CUPS Bluetooth protocol on OS X.
