Looks like that model is Windows-only.

Maybe someone knows how to get around that?

looks like you are right... here are the drivers... (2000,XP,ME) only...

http://www.canon.com.au/products/all_in_one_printers/all_in_one_printers/imageclass_mf3110_drivers.html

EDIT: maybe try this?

http://itdrv.net/drivers/canon mf3110 osx-A518.html#

i have never DL anything from this site myself... so try at your own risk...

i think you have to register to DL drivers from the site...

like i said, i have never used the site... probably bogus anyway... did a more extensive search and could not come up with any osx drivers for that printer... looks like it really is windows only...

im surprised the printer is not recognized when plugged into the computer...

If you can skip the multifunction driver and try some of the other drivers, you may have a shot.

But I do not know what canon printer driver is closest.
