my girlfriend just got a new HP Vivera printer, and she is trying to print on 4 X 6's. its only printing the whole picture on the top half of the paper... how can she print a full photo on a full 4 X 6 sheet?

What software is she trying to use? Is it iPhoto or Preview. In Preview, there is a tab that specifies the paper size and the layout of the image to be printed. iPhoto (which I haven't used since I got Aperture back in Feb), has had some issues printing, so you might want to make sure you have the software updated.

Did she try (in Preview) selecting the advanced tab (then click Paper Handling).
At the bottom, there is an option that says, "Scale to fit paper size". Select A6 (that's a 4 by 6). Also make sure that under layout, there is no border (it's off by default, but better make sure anyway).
