Purchased myself a 27" iMac from Apple about a week ago. Everything is all good and fine - except my private browsing on Safari doesn't seem to work.

It works fine on my Macbook, but for some reason on my iMac, when I turn it on, it works - but then when the computer restarts and is used again, it's turned off

Does anyone know why this happens and how to fix it?

Thanks, Holly

I've just checked Safari on my iMac and it appears to behave as your does. If you come out of Safari by clicking the Red button in the top-left corner, Private Browsing remains on. If you close the application completely, Private Browsing is turned off. This may be the normal default state.

I believe the default for Safari is for Private Browsing to be off
Every time you restart Safari you need to recheck the option

There may be a 3rd party software to address this or a terminal hack or Apple Script / Automator solution
