The number of paying "contributors" is still very small, certainly in relation to the total number of non-paying members, and the benefits are pretty nebulous: an absence of advertising and a lot of chitchat, basically. I am fairly sure that the "contribution" of the Private Forums membership payments to the overall profitability of the site is minimal.

I suspect so -- profitability being the key word. The terms "profit" and "contribution" don't naturally go together. Perhaps that's the main reason why I haven't made a monetary "contribution" to the site.

Your contribution helps keep our servers running. Any profit comes from our advertisers. ;)

Maybe we should sell "plaques" or "bricks" like hospitals do to raise money. We'd put a series of little rectangles in the margins of site pages, then sell them one by one. We'd also let people sponsor individual forums.

I'm sure our site visitors wouldn't mind at all! ;)

Reports of my apotheosis have been greatly exaggerated.

I believe the Good Doctor is being somewhat risqué.

When I do go, I'll have a little carved inscription on a bench overlooking the Thames on Richmond Hill...

We have much better things to talk about than smack about non-contributors, namely smack about paying members.
So true. More fun that way! :D

We have private forums?!?
I believe so. Corporals and above are not allowed. :)

Can't you at least pretend to be unhappily married and curious? :D
How about happily married and curious? :p

Snort! Love it.

The private forum is an interesting place.

I will say that my life has changed dramatically since acquiring access to the private forums. I wake up with more energy, all the chicks dig me, I get free meals at all of my favorite restaurants, and I don't have to pay any income/sales taxes anymore. It's nice.

Okay, what private forums are you talking about. I want to join. :D

Amusing but invest your money elsewhere.

Well it's in the FAQ as we've pointed out. What else is there to say? :p

I don't think it's fair to judge something without giving it a chance first.

When I first put in my $25, I had no idea what to expect. I've come to find something endearing about the Private Forums and the people I've come to know, so I wouldn't give up my subscription. :)

I like to think of it like a magazine subscription. The small sum really doesn't make any money for a magazine or for MR; it's really more about maintenance as WildCowboy points out. And considering how much time I spend here, I'd say it's a bargain rate.

You know how, here at MR, the Demis are not allowed to talk about the perks of the private forum? Well, the private forum I belong to, I'm allowed to talk about the perks...just not about the forum. :)

The chronically delusional forum.
Don't forget denial. It's the chronically delusional and chronically in denial forum.

You do realise that I'm not a chick don't you
I said "all the chicks." I didn't say "only the chicks." (;
