I actually went the other way on the iPhone - SE for me.

I had a 6s+ prior, and while I loved the device it was so unwieldy to carry around. I feel like my usage didn't change much going to the SE, but at the same time I also think I focus more on using the right device for the task at hand.

My setup has moved from big and rather unorganized with lots of overlap to more specified with minimal overlap.

Former setup:

27" iMac, 11" MacBook Air, iPad Air 2, iPhone 6s+, iPod Touch

Current setup:

15" MacBook Pro, iPad Pro (12.9"), iPhone SE

For me it gives three set categories, and of them the iPad Pro admittedly gets the most use, as I find it the best option for casual browsing and the like. It's also the most comfortable on the couch!

I may check out the larger iPhone 7 when it drops, but overall I'm really happy with the SE. Between the battery life, quick charge time, and barely there form factor it's a great fit for me.

Same almost everything! Except I'm still rocking the 5s. I even came back to the 4" phone from a 6s+, like you. I have the larger iPP for pretty much all my consumption, most of my productivity, plus a lot of drawing and some work. And the 15" MBP (with a cintiq monitor) for the heavy lifting/work. Outside of work, iPP gets the most usage by far as well. (Oh I also have a Mac mini but it's mainly just a file and media server.)

I really like this setup because pretty much all my tasks are covered by these devices, and for me too, each device performs perfectly or near perfectly in a particular range of my tasks, with minimal overlap. It's wonderful that I rarely have to question which device I should use for a given task. And each device gets used A LOT, which is always a good test of value. Of my devices, the iPP can aptly handle the biggest range of my tasks which is why it gets used the most outside of work.

I run into some rare cases where an iPad mini would be quite a bit more ideal than both my 5s and iPP. But they're mostly very casual "needs" and they happen so rarely that I know the mini would be sitting collecting dust for most of the time. Waste is a pet peeve of mine so I opt to not have a mini--at least until I come upon a more substantial use for one.

I have the same, 6S plus, 12.9 pro also a MacBook Pro 15" and n 27" retina iMac. I hav just added a Mini 4 to the mix for reading too. Pretty much covers all of the bases.

I tried going to a 6S this time but it was too small and the screen just didn't look as good as the plus so I ended up with the 6S. I use the iPad Pro when I'm out and about and it is used for remote support / remote access of servers etc along with the usual mail etc. If I'm onsite and need more than that I move onto the MacBook Pro. At home I move onto the iMac. I just use the mini for books and have no email or messaging enabled on it, so no distractions. The pro is perfect for comics but the mini is perfect for books.

crazy that the 12.9 dwarfs my 6s plus and makes it feel small and not phablet like at all, even though at times I feel that way anyways.

Love this combo though,

Go big or go home I suppose? Anyone else have this combination?

I have the 12.9 pro and a 6s plus. To finish off I have a Apple Air 13" and for me this is a perfect 3 products as they all compliment each other.

The iPad pro does need 3d but I wouldn't trade mine if 3d came out in the next 3 years.

The iPhone 6s plus does not a thing and will be my iPhone for a few years to come after up grading to almost every iPhone before.

My 2013 MacBook Air does not need any upgrades but I may sell it once it's 3 years old later this year for a new Air as resale is still good.

Now the Apple iWatch is hopeless without GPS and a sim card.

i really want a 5.5" iphone, but i have perfect fit suits and cloth and that dimension is not quite good for me. But i tried a S7 edge and is perfect, so i want apple to reduce some top bot bezels to make the device more compact and jump from 4.7" to the 5.5". the extra screen for mail messages web will be nice income

My perfect combo is:

-iPhone 6s Plus
-iPad Pro 9.7
-MacBook 12 (2016 m5) + external monitor at home

Mine is very similar. I have the following:

-iPhone 6S Plus
-iPad Pro 9.7"
-13" Retina MacBook Pro although no external monitor at the moment.

I also have a Mac Mini which is not currently hooked up but I'm planning to get a monitor for it soon so I can start using it again probably as a file and media server.

Personally I think a 12.9" iPad Pro is redundant if you have a MacBook or 13"/15 " MacBook Pro as they are of a similar size. The 12.9" isn't anywhere near as portable as the 9.7" model. As I rarely do any production and my iPad is primarily for consumption the 9.7" is just fine and it's a lot easier to carry around. That's not to say I have ruled the 12.9" iPad Pro completely out and may well get the next revision depending on how it compares to the current 12.9" and 9.7" models.

We do have a 13" MacBook Air and a first generation iPad Mini in the household which belong to my parents which I also have access to.

I agree. 6s+, 12.9 ipp, 27" iMac seems just about right for me.
Agreed! After buying the 12.9" IPP, I sold my 15" rMBP (so heavy!) and bought a refurb 5K iMac. Sold my iPad Air 2 as well, but started to miss it's "all day/everyday portability". So, last week traded in my 6s for a 6s Plus. For me, these three products ideally balance power, screen real estate and portability.

My 12.9/6S+ combo are perfect for me! I NEVER thought I'd use a bigger phone, and always made fun of people with those big Samsung phones, and when they came out with the 6 and 6+, I bought the 6. A few months later, I got the 6+ and then upgraded to 6S+ and I doubt I'll ever go back to anything smaller.

As far as the iPad, I toyed with returning it and going for the smaller pro, but I sold my Air 2 to buy the pro, so I knew the size was gonna seem small after having the 12.9. SO glad I kept my 12.9!!

After having the 12.9 for at least two weeks now, I played with the PP9.7 in stores, and it seriously felt like the mini did.

The mini just felt, wrong honestly.

I used mini2 for 2 years too

Crazy how relativity works,

Same combination I have! I like them both too. No complaints.

I used the love the mini's size but ever since the plus came out I would rarely even touch it. The difference in sizes were just too minimal. Now with the 12.9" Pro I am actually using an iPad once again. The size is perfect for reading comics or even regular books.

I have that combi and love it. I agree that it's the "perfect" combo.

Currently have the 6s-Plus and an Air2. Have to say I am impressed with the 6s+ performance compared to the Air2. They're both fast but the iPhone has the edge with its fast storage and it shows.
I do a lot of audio work (GarageBand, Korg gadget, etc) and this combo allows me to knock up ideas on the phone and then continue them more comfortably on the Air2.
Thinking about getting the 12 inch Pro but need to get my hands on one first to see how it feels - but having all that real-estate for audio apps is sure tempting. Don't think I'd get the smaller 6s though - giving too much up in that trade.

everyone is different, for me it would be 7.9 Inches Mini 4 and 6 Inches 6s.
+ MBP 13. (or maybe 21.5 Inches iMac)

I currently have an iPhone 6, iPad Air 2' and Mac Pro with 40" screen. I don't want a bigger phone as pocketability is more important to me in the device I want to take everywhere, but in general I love bigger screens, so I'm really tempted to try the 12.9 to replace the Air 2.

I use my iPad every day on my commute, on the couch, and in bed. Mostly consumption, but also doing emails, and some MS Word and Excel.

For me, the best combination is 12.9 iPad pro, iPad mini 4, and iPhone se, and macbook Air.

The 12.9 iPad pro is for use as whiteboard for my work as a teacher, and a notebook for scribbling mathematical notes.

The iPad mini 4 is a wonderful portable book reader, GPS, and email/Internet device. The iPhone 6+ wouldn't be big enough for reading PDFs on the run.

With the iPad mini, I don't need a larger phone.

And I like a good compact laptop for composing complex documents and using software not available on an iPAD.

That's my ideal combination. I don't have the iPhone SE or the macbook Air this moment, but it's what I'm planning eventually to upgade to.

I currently have an iPP 12.9 and iPhone 6. I also still have the Air2, but it basically sits there collecting dust. I also have an iMac, which is my media server, and I use it once every so often when I chance on something I can't do on my iPad. At home, I use the iPP all the time. The iPhone is for when I go out. I'm tempted to try replacing the iPhone with a mini4, but the fact that the Apple Watch only works with the iPhone is holding me back. I don't like the plus sized iPhones because they are too long and narrow, and feel unwieldy in my hands.

yep i love both

pro for general tasks at home and my plus for on the go and at work..love it
