Coming from an Air 2, I've noticed that my IPP screen tends to smear more when I'm scrolling through the springboard, emails, etc etc.

I switched true-tone off to see if that would make a difference, but it doesn't.

Has anyone else noticed, or am I imagining it? I haven't got my air 2 to compare it too anymore.

Thanks.

This may have something to do with the dynamic screen refresh from the iPPs. Maybe it is not quick enough to set the refresh rate higher.....

Yes I was gonna Post this exact same threat topic. I have gone through like 4 Desktop displays because of the Type of Screen Smearing ghosting or trailing of text. Its a faint trail or smear of the text when you scroll. Its very annoying and my eyes tend to look away to avoid this.

Also my 2013 Nexus 7 tablet IPS display did not Have ANY smearing at all really regret selling it.

My new Samsung Note 5 which has a OLED 5.7 inch display had no smear, but when I updated Android 5.1 to Android 6.0 so as someone else posted its very likely a software issues where to save battery the displays variable refresh rate is slow causing it not to update as fast leaving a trail or smear now So even a device that had none. Now has very little after a Software Update.

Now I do not remember this in the iPad Air 2 I will have to test this and compare at the Apple store

When playing games its feels like the Display is being driven faster and there are no trails or smears. But theres definitely is when websurfing.

Honestly this is a deal breaker for me when a $299 Tablet from 2013 DOES NOT have smearing but a $729 Tablet in 2016 Does. Is inexcuseable And my guess is Apple will never acknowledge this.

If I compare at the store an iPad Air 2 and it has No smearing I have no choice but to return my 9.7 Pro.

Coming from an iPad Air 2, I noticed the same. Must be related to the new screen technology.
I hope I get used to it.
I'm using the iPad for taking notes and the pencil is just amazing.

I'm slowly getting used to it, and the benefits of true tone is starting to outweigh this for me.

I've also noticed the wavy screen effect when scrolling up and down, which I haven't noticed since my ipad 3.

I've compared with my original air and if you scroll fast enough with the txt on both it does get a little fuzzy. It's identical on both iPads. I don't see it as a problem at all. I never scroll that fast. Not a speed reader lol.

Unless there is screen refresh rate variances with the IPP, I could swear that my screen smears more than my air 2 did.

100% True currently typing from Apple Store I had to come do a side by side of this Text Smearing or Blurring when scrolling fast. Without a doubt the iPad Pro 9.7 and 12.9 have this smearing or blurring problem
Now the iPad Air 2 does it as well just much less. That said the iPad Pro smears or blurs text about 2x more or double how much text blurs or smears on the iPad Air 2

My guess is that this is the Custom timing controller that drives the display it's just not refreshing at a fast enough rate to catch up. Most likely a battery saving move.

On a side note my iPad Pro 9.7 blew away the iPad Air 2 in terms of colors to the naked eye and brightness.
Even with True tone off the iPad Pro is ever so slightly more neutral or warmer than the iPad Air 2 which is more White and to me More bluefish white looks better but after just minutes my eyes just like the iPad Pro better the Air 2 becomes jarring.

Thanks for testing. I'm glad I'm not going mad! I definitely notice that the colours are better than my iPad Air 2. The blacks are so much blacker too. This outweighs the extra smearing, which I am getting used too now.

Did some more testing with my iPad Air and retina iMac and the tearing is the same and minimal on all devices. I just don't see the issue and I'm pretty ocd.
