I totally forgot I had purchased the $199 Educational Pro Apps bundle (Final Cut, Logic Pro, Motion, Compressor, Mainstage) years ago and only have it loaded onto my Studio Mac.

Will it load onto a Neo - how many devices will it work on?

I don't expect full functionality, but wondering if the apps will open.

Since Apple no longer offers this bundle, will it work on a Neo ?

I just did a quick google and all but motion have a minimum requirement of 8gb.

I would say they all will load, but depending on your workflow, the operation could be painfully slow and motion itself may not be fully functional at 16gb. I'm guessing on that one, as I've not used any of these but are just going off of the system requirements

I don’t see why it wouldn’t “run.”

How WELL it will run depends on what you’re doing with it of course. Basic stuff should be fine, just don’t try editing hours of 4k multi camera footage.
If they need to go beyond 8gb memory even when swap memory is a thing then it will not cut it. They’d need to get the MacBook Pro for heavy duty video editing

I don’t think there’s any question that it wouldn’t perform like a heftier machine with more memory. The question was - “will they run?” And the answer, is Yes.

Of course it will run and it'll do fine. My buddy edits 4k surgery videos all the time on an M2 MacBook Air base model with 8 gigs of ram.

Sure faster machine with more memory will perform faster but it'll still work.

At bare minimum system requirements. But don’t expect to do 3d modeling and rendering on F360 on those neos.
Who’s asking about F360 and 3D modeling?? This is FCP, Logic Pro, etc.

No one is suggesting the MacBook Neo will perform like a M5 Pro with 48GB RAM. But it’ll run the apps, and do basic stuff in them. Assembling a basic video (1080p clips for sure, probably even 4k to an extent) is possible too. It won’t be super fast and it’ll swap a lot - but it’ll do it.

I suspect it’ll handle F360 too though, come to that… my iPad does fine with it for basic models for a 3D printer. Not something I’d WANT to use a Neo for but sometimes “needs must.”

AMAZING!

FCP on my Neo has exceeded my expectations on a 8GB machine!

Impressed with how it handled a 4K video edit without a single beach ball.

Definitely slower than my Mac Studio Max but definitely has the right ticket.

Neo is a keeper!
