For day to day work, is the XDR really that much better than the 5k LG ?
I love my XDR. I think it's a lot better than any other options out there. Period.

To me, it's really more of a psychological question, as I neither can really 'feel' much about the color accuracy (although I konw a lot), nor do I care about those specs when I'm not using it for anything that is not related to HDR or media content creating. The XDR to me is just a well built piece of art, like a Cassina sofa (don't care about the leather), a B&O stereo (cannot really differenciate the sound quality), or a BMW M3 (S engine means nothing when speed is limited at 85 mph with cops all around), or a Parker fountain pen (cannot tell if a gold nib is necessarily better).

Spoken like someone who has to justify their 6k purchase. Just kidding.. I actually really want one. Just that I like two monitors , so am scared of the thought of having to get two ! But yeah, I see a huge gap between my 5k and my other LG 27" 4k, so was curious to see how much better again the XDR was really.

You are absolutely right. Now I'm living every day trying to justify that this XDR is a correct purchase. I used to think that the monitor can keep the value longer than the computer tower, so when XDR was released, I paid the highest price I have ever spent on an Apple product.

Now I have to keep it and trying to convince myself that this monitor is worthy, and trying to look for some comfort in this forum...Kinda sad, huh?

This is my life with all Apple purchases.

It's easier if you just accept that they are all luxury products, and if you have the money to buy one you're doing better than 99% of the people in this world. Of course you can get cheaper. You can get faster. You can even get cheaper for faster. However, the build quality and the integration that creates a seamless flow on the Apple devices are all part of the equation. It's a lot like buying a luxury car brand vs. anything else that will still get you from point A to point B--the whole experience is part of the equation.
