Any chance for :apple: to create a high dpi + high refresh rate monitor priced below the current XDR's range instead of simply refreshing it as the next iteration with the new tech inside ?

I'm desperate for an Apple-made successor to the Thunderbolt display. I'd settle for just a standalone iMac display. But ideally, I'd love to see one with ProMotion and a 1080p camera. Available in either 24in or 30in. Priced at $999 and $1299 respectively.

Same thinness as the iMac. Same sound.

There are rumors, but nothing solid yet.

The LG monitors are scarce right now...and frankly, I think they're ugly.

I'm starting to ask myself if Tim is nudging us towards buying imacs as screens. Who knows, in 2 gens the first imacs may become a viable option.

Same here, I'm still using a Acer Predator X34 from a thousand years ago lol... Been waiting on a new Cinema Display for my home office setup and keeping my Acer for gaming lol

If you can afford an XDR, you will not be disappointed. I just bought a second one to go with a 14" MBP. They are amazing screens. I use them for software development and with 8-10 hours a day working it is more than worth it.

I know it's a great display, and I'd love to get one.

I do graphic design. I can't justify spending $6k on a display. If I did video editing or if I did a significant amount of print work, then maybe. But it's just not at a price point that I can personally justify.

I'm still using a Thunderbolt display from 2015 or so. It still works great. But ultimately, I'd like something with smaller bezels and greater brightness.

My fingers are crossed that new displays will come whenever they announce a new size of iMac.

I'm also wondering if Apple is going to release a more affordable or updated display any time soon. While I can afford a Pro Display XDR, I've read about too many nagging issues, however minor, that would annoy me given the price.

Leaning towards an LG UltraFine 5K which also has many positive reviews, but of course not perfect either. But at one fifth the price, it'll be a much easier pill to swallow if something more desirable comes out in the next 12-18 months.

Still thinking...

For me the only good options in the market right now are LG Ultrafine 5K or Huawei Mateview with 4.2k at 3:2 aspect ratio.

I both the Huawei Mateview and they are great!

Finally pulled the trigger on the LG UltraFine 5K Display. I’m hoping the setup is painless and the screen quality meets my expectations - that is to say, it looks at least as good as my 2017 5K iMac.

I have two of the LG 5K and think they’re great displays. The physical design isn’t particularly beautiful, but they’re probably the next best non-specialist display after the Apple Pro Display XDR.
