For $100 more I feel like you get a lot more for your money if you don't mind the size:
  • Substantially bigger battery (even when it degrades it will last longer than a Pro model)
  • Bigger screen (better for editing photos and games)
  • Better thermal management (larger chassis)
  • (probably) Better resale value? Most normal people want a larger phone if they don't have a laptop/tablet.
I got the Pro but I'm rethinking my decision...the Plus I tried fits in my pocket fine even with a case, so the Max would as well. Neither phone is truly "one-handed" like the Mini is. You still need two hands most of the time to get to the island or anything up high on both models. The difference in price since most people are financing is non-existent.

I see the pro's of the Pro and I love the size but I just feel like the Max is the better value and the resale value would be higher down the road. If the Max was $200 more expensive I'd keep the Pro every day of the week, but it's not.

Thoughts?

Pro Max battery life worth every penny, spend extra $200, 256gb require space for 4K ProRes video recording on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

The Pro I still find to be the more manageable iPhone to use if you care about one handed use.
I have large hands and still find this easier to deal with, day to day.

The Pro Max does have the advantage of the better battery life and media experience. I have both and I'm still confused, but I really believe there are pros and cons to either form factor.

Went for the pro. Will be willing to go for the pro max/ultra in the future if/when they switch to titanium but for now the pro works.

The only correct choice is Pro Max.

Given how much demand there is for Max, you can bet Apple will increase prices of the Max next year so the difference is >$100.

The only correct choice is Pro Max.

Meanwhile in the real world, some YT tech channels/ vloggers who have all of them at their disposal and still prefer the smaller 6.1" Pro--go figure (Marques Brownlee, Lisa from MobileTechReview, Jonathan Morrison, etc). Sure it's much more popular to go Pro Max, but the "only correct choice"? LOL.

I have the 14 Pro Max and use the Spigen thin fit (I think) clear case. It is grippy, but the camera bump is so large this year that the phone rests on my right hand index finger (just beneath the bump) and lays in the palm, because the case is grippy, and I can now use the phone one handed with my thumb.

Crazy that this works for me in this odd way, rather than pinky + soreness from prior Max / Plus phones.

I tried both the 14 Pro and the 14 Pro Max and having had a 11 Pro I found the Pro Max just too large for my hands to be comfortable. I went with the Pro and since I am retired the battery issue is a non-issue with the smaller sized Pro phone

I had a 12 pro and went with the 14 pro max this time. I’ll be back to a pro next time. I’m not a fan of the pro max size. Played with the wife’s 14 pro and it’s just so much better to use. I traded my 14 pro on release day for the pro max and wish I didn’t. The extra screen size is nice I guess.

Still waiting for my pro to arrive. My 2016 SE is still ticking, but can’t wait for the upgrade.

Oh wait, nope! "Bigger is always better", you're BOTH wrong!

Or could it possibly be, that the largest iPhone isn't for everybody?! More should think twice before solely recommending the largest iPhone --universally all the time...

Maybe you need to grow and be bigger because bigger is better

I went from a X to a 14 Pro Max. I thought I’d hate the size, but I actually find it more comfortable for my hands. Some of my hand pain went away actually!

After a month or so, it feels normal to me now.

The more important thing is whether the size is right for you. That would be based on your hand size, the clothing you wear, lifestyle, etc. Focus on what works for you rather than the other factors you listed.
