I really want a Pro XDR 32 now that they are no longer making it, and I want to pay a reasonable price. I have been monitoring eBay and I've noticed that there seems to be a lot of potential fraud going on. I wanted to post here to start a thread to see if anyone else has experience with this. There appear to be 2 types of scams:

1. Low priced classified Ads:

If you reach out the seller will say they can't use eBay, need to pay with PayPal invoice. They provide border line acceptable info on why they are selling, can provide more photos. However, what sketched me out is if you look closely at all the details and ask follow up questions, they don't appear to match. The seller refuses to use eBay even if you offer to pay more.

Here is an example: https://www.ebay.com/itm/389626910926?_skw=Pro+Display+XDR&itmmeta=01KK4VQ2T93JHQSHZ72PV50YK1&hash=item5ab792d8ce:g:dFIAAeSwzchpkf8b&itmprp=enc:AQALAAAA0GfYFPkwiKCW4ZNSs2u11xAhtdAOo2IUvkSBrLQCuUnSibACS5LVo+yJFbq6nbdVJ2IuwxEk4JdywL8Xoyc3yPfJi38itLY9StPIgGZsOHfNmbIIJkqgBQ+bc7GLkaDB0Z2q/Vjhpql5FZKpvwOhMduFnnlWNvVKzStidNA95uVlsuz7nIX7rC68HFXHr5zG31l49Zh0DvgYedrHeR7vG4+9Ud2Fvatpd0YCeM2TtVMQj8CUc9vhzQYi9lKb3mgxP7EGcDYBiLe1LyyOlXjtUyo=|tkp:Bk9SR76t3JuZZw

I did find one person on reddit saying that he was scammed via this approach, never receiving the product and still not getting his money back:
2. Low priced units, official eBay listings, but from zero feedback users.
These appear about 1 every other day. If you click the link below, you will clearly see there are some Pro XDRs selling at $2500-3500, and every single one that sells at that price comes from a user with zero feedback. I'm more interested in these as supposedly they have a guarantee with eBay, however, I sort of think with the frequency of these low priced listings, the scammers must think for some reason they can get away with it successfully. interesting, the sellers often have a few other items for sale, and for some reason one of them will be super over priced, like a phone case for $500 or something.

Wanted to open this up as a thread to see if anyone else has been successful with these type of low priced zero feedback users or has had poor experience getting scammed.

Apple products on eBay are 99.9% scams, period. Yeah, you might find a unicorn… but it’s a swamp and caveat emptor is the only rule.

This is definitely not true.

The real red flag is that they are asking you to circumvent eBay’s payment system, which gets rid of all of eBay’s buyer protection. This is 100% a scam.

I constantly see top spec MBPs and Mac Studios at very low prices from 0 feedback users. My favorite is when you look at the photos and see watermarks from the actual seller who's photos were stolen for a scam listing

This is why I avoid ebay and also live by the old adage - if its too good to be true, then it is.

Ebay listing selling the new XDR monitors don't even pass the sniff test, they're not really in the hands of the consumers and yet people are listing them for sale?

0 feedback, suggesting to go outside of eBay and just use Paypal, run away!

If there's something on eBay which says it has buyer protection etc then you should be ok, but again, a 0 feedback user with just one high value item being sold under the going rate... I'd be very suspicious. If its too good to be true...

We have one XDR here and I kept looking on eBay in the UK for another one, pretty much for the entire life of the product and there were very few ever being listed. I can't see that changing now - people who love them won't be selling them any time soon.

I’m waiting on one I bought from a Nigerian prince - it was kind of a pain paying him in Apple gift cards but he promised to expedite shipping!
