Low and behold, when they were activating my phone, my name showed up on the account and everything went smoothly.

Imagine that!....just like you told them...

those morons in that store shouldn't even be working in retail...they sound more like "government workers"...(no offense to any government workers here) :D

I go back down to apple and wait another 15 minutes in line when the same concierge guy, in a rude tone, tells me to get off the line so actual customers can buy a phone if my name is not on the ATT bill that comes to my house.

No excuse to the manager guy but 1) he said you couldn't get the phone at the apple store unless you're the account holder.

he told me that I had to be the account holder to upgrade my phone (the bill comes in my mom's name but I am authorized to add/upgrade, and do everything she can with the account)

So I tell the guy this and he says that I'd need to check with ATT to verify. I went to ATT and spoke with the manager and he told me I should have no problem picking up a phone from apple because I am authorized to do so on the account (they were sold out of phones otherwise I would pick one up there)

Yes I know that he said you need to check with AT&T to verify? but what's that going to do?

Thus somehow you excepted by going to the AT&T store, talking to the manager, then going back to the apple store and saying "the AT&T guy said I could do it" would some how change things?

Then you get upset at the concierge guy who tells you the facts that you all-ready know. That he can't help you, therefore asking you to get out of the line.

Doesn't sound to crazy to me? Of course except for the manager asking to leave the store. But for some reason I think I'd like to here their story too

Why on earth would ANY retailer turn down business from someone that actually WANTS to buy your product?
Why, instead wouldn't they say, there seems to be a problem with your AT&T account access privileges ...let me have one of our specialists help you by calling AT&T and seeing if we can't get you your iPhone today...or, let's see what we can do for you by having you go onto the AT&T website and looking at your account?
Does that seem so unreasonable? I'll tell you what...if these bozos worked for me and I caught them chasing a qualified wanting buyer out of my store I'd fire them on the spot...
There is absolutely no excuse for what they did...you try and help some buy your product, not discourage them...
Another person posted that they had the same issue but the Apple staff gave it a try and what do you know? IT WORKED and Apple sold another $700.00 phone (and potentially what ever other Apple products this customer and his sphere of influence may buy in the future) and got another cut of yet another AT&T two year data contract and the customer got what he wanted....amazing how that works...

Yes, I agree with you that they could gone the extra mile and called up AT&T. But I think you're missing the fact that I'm trying to get across.

Rules are Rules.

And there employee was just following the rules. And to call them bozos, morons, and government employees is silly.

And for clarification I'm not condoning what the manger did, I just don't understand the entitlement of getting around rules.

The pierced, bearded, fuzzy haired, Birkenstock wearing DOUCHE bags that work at the Old Orchard Mall store in Skokie IL are terrible.

I find this thread interesting, because i was just there yesterday, My girlfriend needed to swap her 2G because the replacement they gave her 2 days ago has a broken speaker. Of course they didnt have any more, so they had to order her one, and we have to go back a THIRD time.

Anyways, she wanted to go next door to Victorias secret, so i said i'd meet her there in a couple minutes, i wanted to buy her a screen protector and a Sena slim pouch for my new 3GS.

Som old man was bombarding one of the only douches ringing up people at the time. He was getting ram upgraded, and kept asking questions. I was in line for 20 minutes.

I finally snapped. I yelled to the apple douche, why dont you send him to a tech, and ring up the line of 6 people you have in front of you! Are you kidding me right now?? Finally this chick came out of nowhere and rang me up after asking me a thousand times if i realized the 2 things i was buying were for 2 different kinds of iphone.

I got my 3GS on launch day delivered by fedex. I can't stand apple employees. Or its customers for the most part.

If this was your first experience with useless salespersons then you are to be congratulated. It's a plague and they are spreading. Just yesterday i had two idiots when purchasing wood for building a deck.
