This might be a very silly question, but bear with me - I'm completely new to this game. I shot hdv on mini dv tapes, and am now trying to capture the footage, using an hd camera. The footage captures fine in dv, but the moment I change the final cut pro 5 settings to hdv it doesn't seem to want to capture, and I seems like there's no communication between the camera and the mac. I tried a different camera, and even a different firewire, but the same problem cropped up. What do I do?

posting and final cut capture problem

Sorry to butt in and call me stupid if you like, but how the hell does one post a question here? I'm having trouble with capturing on fcp.

I'm using a Canon XL1 to film and transfer to fcp on my imac and when I try to capture I get a message saying: Capture encountered a problem reading the data on your source tape, etc. etc.

The tape works fine when I'm watching it on the Log & Capture window. All advice welcome on both questions.

Thangyaverrmuch.
