Problem dowgrading to IOS6

what can I do I want to change firmware don't know how to get the ipsw file out of the zip that I downloaded which when I extract gives me the same as the other user said and am sort of stuck with the worlds most popular paper weight. some one help pliz

The file doesn't matter, you cannot downgrade a 4s no matter what. There is nothing you can do. You are stuck on iOS 7.

The posts above are mostly correct; nobody has yet figured out how to downgrade a 4S or newer. Given that it's already been a few years, it's unlikely that it'll happen anytime soon.
