I have video that is in a 4:3 format. When i go to export it in FCE I go to

File
Export
Quicktime Movie

I have the "Make Movie Self-Contained" Checked.

The problems is that it exports the movie into a 16:9 format. If I uncheck the self-contained part it exports it correctly.

Is there a setting somewhere that I am missing ?

I'm sorry to ask this, as I have no idea what your level of knowledge is, so please forgive me if I sound insulting...

Is it really in 16:9 or are you viewing the resulting quicktime file directly with square pixels being treated as non-square?

( which would make your 4:3 image look stretched )

What program are you attempting to send this resulting quicktime file to?
( By that I mean.... Why are you exporting it? )

well I am not sure if it is exactly 16:9, but it looks that way. everything is stretched out.

I'm exporting these with chapter markers so I can put them into idvd.

this is my 1st weekend really diving into fce so alot of this is new to me.

What are you using to view the file? Quicktime? or Are you saying it's 16:9 once it's dragged into iDVD?
